Marc Lou has built 43 startups. The numbers behind the ones that stuck
ShipFast has passed $1.27M in all-time revenue and DataFast sits near $29K MRR, both verified on TrustMRR. Marc Lou's own posts explain why it took far longer than the internet assumes.

This story is based on public sources: verified revenue on TrustMRR and Marc Lou's own public posts on X. It is not an interview. Revenue figures were last checked on 3 November 2026.
Few solo founders are as public about their numbers as Marc Lou. His X bio reads like a revenue table, and his best-known products publish their Stripe data on TrustMRR, the verified-revenue database he also built. That makes him an easy founder to write about without guessing.
ShipFast: the boilerplate that paid for everything else
ShipFast is a Next.js boilerplate that helps developers launch a SaaS, AI tool or web app without wiring up payments, auth and email from scratch. According to its TrustMRR page, it was founded in July 2023 in Singapore, is run by a one-person team, and is bootstrapped.
Its verified all-time revenue is $1,273,191. TrustMRR shows no MRR because it is not a subscription: the listed pricing is $199 for Starter, $249 for All-in, and $299 for a ShipFast + CodeFast bundle. The page lists about 8,433 users and Meta Ads as a marketing channel.
A one-time product that keeps selling is unusual. Most boilerplates fade once the original launch buzz is gone. ShipFast grew alongside its founder's audience, and the audience grew because he kept shipping in public.
DataFast: slow, then steady
DataFast is "revenue-first analytics for startup founders". It shows which marketing channels bring paying customers rather than just visitors. TrustMRR lists it at $28,962 MRR with 1,390 active subscriptions and $329,468 in all-time revenue, verified through Stripe. Plans start at $9 a month after a 14-day free trial.
The growth was not fast at first. On DataFast's birthday in October, Marc wrote on X that "the initial growth was really slow (8 months to $3K MRR)". He added that after this year's growth it "has plateaued at ~30K MRR and is tracking ~220M page views per month."
That candour about a plateau is rare. Most founders post the up-and-to-the-right chart and stay quiet when the line flattens.
"It takes time"
The most-shared thing Marc posted in the last week was not a revenue screenshot. It was a timeline. On 30 October he wrote that it took him "2 years to make $1 online", "8 months to get 1,000 followers" and "3 months to grow a SaaS to $1k MRR". He said he has built 43 startups and posted 38.7K tweets, and finished with: "It takes time. Whoever pretends otherwise is trying to sell you a get-rich-quick dream."
For a founder with more than 420,000 followers, the point is pointed. The audience came after years of building, not before.
TrustMRR: from leaderboard to marketplace
TrustMRR itself started as something smaller. Marc posted on 26 October that the site had passed 200 acquisitions in less than a year, and that it "started as a vibe-coded revenue leaderboard for founders". The leaderboard "died after a month", he wrote, but he listened to users and built a marketplace after they asked for one.
The site now describes itself as "the database of verified startup revenues", with revenue pulled from Stripe, RevenueCat, Superwall, the App Store and other providers, refreshed hourly. Every figure in this article comes from it.
He also uses it as a distribution engine for other founders. His weekly "fastest-growing startup of the week" posts spotlight small apps, such as a sports-partner matching app that went from 0 to $3,835 MRR in a month.
The next experiment
Marc is still launching. His latest product, MailCheap, is an email sending service. He posted on 25 October that it reached four-figure MRR in 10 days, compared with three months for DataFast. A few days later he added that it reached $2K MRR six days after that.
Whether MailCheap becomes a ShipFast or one of the other 40 experiments is not knowable yet. What is visible is the method: small products, shipped quickly, with the numbers out in the open.
Why it matters
Marc Lou's story is often told as overnight success. His own numbers say the opposite. Two years passed before he made a dollar, and DataFast took eight months to reach $3K MRR. A one-time boilerplate quietly passed a million dollars. For founders comparing themselves to the highlight reel, the verified data is the more useful story.
